Women in Science and Technology is approaching it 30th anniversary and is committed to encouraging more women to enter and thrive in the STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) sectors.
The annual awards are a major event in the calendar reaching out to leading business organisations and academic institutions. HRH The Princess Royal is patron and presents the awards while Sir Alan Sugar is a big fan.
WISE approached Carmel Harrison PR two weeks before the November 14 awards event to generate as much coverage nationally and locally as possible.
We researched all the shortlisted candidates and knowing who would win we wrote advanced press releases for sign off. We contacted major players in the national media and trade press to ensure comprehensive coverage. We also organised filming with UK and international crews to maximise the message at home and overseas.
Carmel Harrison PR attended the event and interviewed winners as they received their awards using quotes to endorse the success of the WISE campaign. We supported media who attended to ensure they got best vantage points and the interviews they wanted. After a few hours sleep we then made sure images were collated from the event photographer to circulate to all national, international sector and digital media resulting in across the board coverage.
That is ongoing with requests three months later for candidate interviews and comment.
Sarah Shaw of the WISE Campaign said: “It was a pleasure working with Carmel Harrison PR on the WISE Awards 2013 and we look forward to working with the team again.”
